Welcome to the Year of Practical AI

2026 may be the year AI becomes less about amazement and more about practical integration.

That is a good thing.

The market has had enough demos. Businesses now need value.

Can AI reduce ticket handling time?

Can it improve reporting?

Can it assist developers safely?

Can it detect anomalies?

Can it help users navigate complex systems?

Can it reduce manual admin?

These are less glamorous questions than “Can AI think?” but they are more useful.

The practical phase will be harder than the demo phase.

It requires clean data, security review, change management, monitoring, user training, and honest measurement.

Some AI projects will fail because they were never attached to a real problem. Some will fail because they were technically clever but operationally careless.

The useful ones will probably be narrow, boring, and deeply integrated.

That is not disappointing. That is maturity.
