Hopeful Thought: AI Might Help Smaller Teams Compete

Large companies have money, staff, infrastructure, legal teams, procurement departments, and brand trust.

Small teams usually have speed.

AI may increase that speed.

A small team can now draft copy, prototype interfaces, analyse logs, generate test cases, explore code, build internal tools, and produce documentation faster than before.

That does not mean a two-person company can magically outbuild an enterprise. But it does mean some work that previously required five specialists may now be possible with two skilled generalists and good judgement.

This could matter.

It may help small businesses automate admin. It may help local companies build better digital services. It may help independent developers create products that would have been unrealistic a few years ago.

There is still danger. Bad AI output can create legal, technical, and security problems. But used carefully, AI may reduce the distance between idea and execution.

That is worth being hopeful about.
